Week 181

ST KILDA

1.  This interesting construction is a replica of the wreck of the yacht Lady of St Kilda after which the suburb is named
and was erected for the 2006 Commonwealth Games. Health and safety demands have resulted in the unsightly
orange barrier, sadly.

2. There were a number of yachts out on Port Phillip Bay.

3. Melbourne's skyline as seen over part of the marina.

4.  St Kilda, viewed from the breakwater.

5. The Pier is popular with sightseers and anglers.

6. The St Kilda Pier kiosk, which was destroyed in a fire in 2003, has been rebuilt to
the original plans and is here seen from one of the little shelters on the Pier.

7. The golden sandy beach is popular, but today's cool breeze kept the bathers away, it seems.

8. There's no escaping the damned gulls, is there?

9. It's Sunday, so the craft market is in full swing.

10. Looking out over the marina from the Catani Gardens.
