Week 278

DAWDLING THROUGH DOCKLANDS

This Sunday I was joined by my friend Mary as we explored the Docklands development.
Our meander started along the north bank of the Yarra again, but then we made our way
to New Quay, taking some side streets to explore the lesser seen parts, especially the many
fascinating new buildings in the area. As usual I took about five times as many photos as
I need, so there will be more of these images at some time in the future. Thanks for the
pleasant company, Mary!

1. The Polly Woodside has been moved from her permanent berth at the Maritime Museum to this temporary mooring on the river
while work on the new convention centre (background, right) carries on around her old berth.

2. An interesting detail along a stairway.

3. The glass frontage of the NAB building.

4. Angles, textures and shades - with a reflection added.

5. Heavy skies to the west, beyond the Bolte Bridge.

6. Those bollards again - I just can't pass them by!

7.  Soft curves and hard lines - Mary against an architectural detail.

8. I simply love this building!

9. Late afternoon; the Telstra Dome with the Rialto Tower (bluish) and the distinctive, distant shape of the Eureka Tower beyond.

10. Melbourne's version of the London Eye is nearing completion.
