Week 329
FROM SÃO PAULO TO SANTIAGO
My stay in Brazil is over and I am back in Melbourne, but this week
and next week I will still be sharing
images from my return trip. This week the photographs cover scenes I
encountered on my flight from
São Paulo to
Santiago, Chile.

1. A last
glimpse of
São
Paulo as our Airbus climbs into the clouds. I left at 8.00 am and there
was still a dense cloud cover over
much of the route ahead.

2. Argentina... the roads remind me of the lines on the Nazca Plain in Peru!

3. Northeast
of the city of Mendoza, Argentina, lies this enormous salt pan, very
similar in appearance to the Atacama Desert further
north. The photograph shows only the very northernmost part of the
plain.

4. As we approach the Andes the cloud starts to break up.

5. The Andean foothills, still in Argentina.

6. The landscape here is almost lunar... beautiful in its starkness.

7. The Andes once more, but this time in the early morning sun.

8. Mt Agoncagua, the highest peak in the Andes (6,962m).

9. Another view of Cerro Agoncagua.

10. A road crosses the snow-covered ridges. What an adventure it must be to travel along that pass!
