Week 330

FROM  SANTIAGO TO SYDNEY

After a 12-hour layover in Santiago I tackled the long haul across the Pacific to my first port of call
back in Australia - Sydney. This week's images are from our approach to Santiago airport up to our
final approach to Sydney.

1. A last look at the Andes as we approach Santiago, Chile.

2. I arrived in Santiago on Sept. 18th, Chile's Day of Independence. Many of the girls working at food outlets in the airport dressed
in their national costume for the day, including these four from the Fritz Bar, where I had a beer to help pass the time!

3. We also had glimpses of an air display by the aerobatics team of the Chilean Air Force.

4. Take-off from Auckland on a bitterly cold early morning.

5. The New Zealand coastline as we headed out across the Tasman Sea.

6. The rising sun turned the Airbus's wing pink as we left New Zealand behind.

7. Cloudscape under us.

8. Another view (the discoloured area in the bottom left of the frame is caused by the cabin window glass).

9. A landscape of towering cloudmasses lit by the early sun as we approach Sydney.

 10. Sydney landfall.
