Week 362
MELBOURNE EAST, NORTH AND WEST
My Sunday
meander this week starts at Parliament Station on the eastern edge of the CBD.
We pay a brief visit to
St Patrick's Cathedral, then head north to the Carlton Gardens and the Royal
Exhibition Building and the
Melbourne Museum. Here we walk around the rear of the museum before turning
south along Rathdowne St,
which runs into Exhibition St. Then we turn right (west) into Lonsdale St
and follow that street all the way down
to Spencer St and Southern Cross railway station.
I kept my eyes open for the unusual or a different view
of the usual... If you would like to see these places on a map, just click
HERE for a Google Map which will open
in a new window.

1. The water
feature at the eastern side of St Patrick's. It took some patience to
wait for the usual crowd
of tourists to clear the scene!

2. Contrast:
a corner of the old Salvation Army building on Victoria Parade against a
backdrop of steel and glass.

3. I have
often photographed the fountain in front of the Royal Exhibition
Building, but never from
this angle.

4. Detail of some replica ruins next to the Melbourne Museum.

5. A "skew" window in the rear wall of the museum.

6. This crane towers over Rathdowne St, west of the Museum.

7. I spotted this couple in an alley off Lonsdale St.

8. Another surprise in an
alley. Amazingly enough only one brainless tagger has left his
mark...

9. Near the end of Lonsdale St I came across this box in the air at a construction site.

10. This image took a while to make. I spotted the wall, but then had
to wait about ten minutes for a suitable figure to come along.
Well worth the wait, I think!
